DIEPSLOOT \u2013 A devastating fire broke out around midday on Monday, destroying approximately 20 shacks and leaving several families without shelter in Diepsloot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident, which occurred in Diepsloot, has prompted an urgent call for humanitarian assistance from local leaders and community organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Councillor Julius Maake confirmed the fire and said arrangements have been made to temporarily house affected families at the Diepsloot Ext 1 Community Hall. \u201cWe are appealing to anyone who can assist with food, blankets, clothing or any form of support to drop donations at my office at the Youth Centre in Ext 2,\u201d said Maake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Non-profit organisation The Wot-If? Trust has stepped in to assist, donating the blankets and jackets they had in storage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organisation says it continues to reach out to its network to secure more help during this difficult time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
