DIEPSLOOT \u2013 The body of an unidentified woman was discovered on a road in Diepsloot after she reportedly left a local tavern in the early hours of the morning. Paramedics later declared her dead on the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to community leader Jacob Phaswane Shika, concerned residents called him to the scene after spotting the woman lying unresponsive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shika immediately alerted emergency services, who confirmed that the woman had passed away upon arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe still don\u2019t know who she is. She had no form of identification on her,\u201d Shika told Diepsloot News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her body was taken to Fire Mortuary, where it remains as efforts continue to identify her.It is suspected that the woman had been drinking at a tavern shortly before her death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Community members have raised concerns about the widespread consumption of a homemade alcoholic brew known locally as \u2018Thothotho\u2019, a mixture reportedly made with rotten bread, rotten pap, yeast, water, and other unknown ingredients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, Shika said he is working with local stakeholders to shut down informal outlets and shops allegedly selling Thothotho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis drink is dangerous. We don\u2019t even know what people are mixing in it anymore. It\u2019s poisoning our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police are expected to investigate the exact cause of death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
