{"id":1722,"date":"2025-07-01T09:41:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T09:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diepslootnews.co.za\/?p=1722"},"modified":"2025-07-01T09:41:44","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T09:41:44","slug":"three-tshwane-municipal-employees-arrested-over-r7-million-transformer-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diepslootnews.co.za\/?p=1722","title":{"rendered":"Three Tshwane Municipal Employees Arrested Over R7 Million Transformer Theft"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>TSHWANE \u2013 A major breakthrough in the investigation of a R7 million transformer theft has led to the arrest of three City of Tshwane municipal employees, the South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrests were made by the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit, following months of investigation into the November 2024 theft of a transformer at the Laudium substation \u2014 an act authorities say severely disrupted power supply and posed a threat to public infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to SAPS, 11 suspects were initially taken into custody at the start of the investigation. Ten of them, who were sub-contractors, were released after police could not directly link them to the crime.
