DIEPSLOOT \u2013 Councillor Abraham Thambulo Mabuke of Ward 113 has issued a stern warning to residents of Diepsloot and surrounding areas about an alleged RDP housing scam involving a woman known as Mss Patient Tshishonga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a public statement released by Cllr Mabuke, Tshishonga has been reportedly moving around Diepsloot and Riverside View, fraudulently promising unsuspecting residents RDP houses in exchange for large sums of money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Voice recordings in the councillor\u2019s possession allegedly capture Tshishonga demanding upfront payments of R15,000 and additional fees once the individual is placed in an RDP house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shockingly, the scammer is said to be using Cllr Mabuke\u2019s name, claiming he has connections within the Department of Human Settlements to fast-track housing approvals.\u201cI want to make it clear to the community \u2014 these are lies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The RDP houses being built in Diepsloot and Riverside View are not for sale,\u201d said Mabuke. \u201cAnyone who asks for money in exchange for a government house is a criminal and must be reported.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged victims to open cases at the Diepsloot Police Station immediately, adding that swift legal action is necessary to stop Tshishonga from exploiting vulnerable community members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cllr Mabuke further encouraged the community to \u201cname and shame\u201d any leader or individual who presents themselves as a middleman between housing applicants and government officials in exchange for payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reminded residents that allocations of RDP homes follow a strict legal process based on a 2014 Council Resolution, which prioritises:Residents of Diepsloot Road Reserve Extension 07 Northern Farm Two Hostel dwellers People living under Eskom power lines in Ivory Park and Diepsloot Informal settlements in Region AIndividuals who applied for housing since 1996 Special cases approved by the MEC or Minister\u201cThe only way to build a better society is through honesty and accountability. Let\u2019s protect each other from fraudsters who prey on our desperation,\u201d said Mabuke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
