WESTBURY, JOHANNESBURG \u2013 Police have identified suspects linked to a deadly shooting in Westbury, west of Johannesburg, that claimed the lives of two teenagers and left five others injured, one critically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to authorities, a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the suspects believed to be behind the gang-related shooting that took place earlier today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gauteng Acting Police Commissioner, General Fred Kekana, confirmed that the alleged perpetrators are also teenagers and that police have managed to identify most of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cThose suspects who are also teenagers, as we are informed, disappeared, but we do know who they are, their parents, their addresses \u2014 three of them. The fourth one, we don’t know. The team, as we speak, is currently following them because, for obvious reasons, they didn’t go back to their houses,\u201d said Kekana.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
He added that police have video footage of the suspects, which will assist in tracking them down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cWe also have video footage of their faces when they came here and even when they left. Therefore, as soon as the teams succeed in locating them, we’ll then have to take them in and ensure that they face justice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The incident has once again raised concerns about gang violence and youth involvement in crime in the Westbury community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
