Diepsloot, 5 November 2025 \u2014 The communities of Diepsloot and Riverside View are breathing a sigh of relief after the suspect behind the brutal panga killing of Sibusiso Shabangu was apprehended. Chairperson Shika, a respected local leader, located the suspect, Mpho \u201cMporoza\u201d Masemola (21), who had been on the run since Saturday, and handed him over to Diepsloot SAPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Masemola family has expressed deep regret and extended their apologies to the Shabangu family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The community has praised Shika for his courageous action, hailing him as a hero for helping bring the suspect to justice. Residents expressed relief that the suspect is now behind bars and called on everyone to continue supporting efforts to fight crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acting Station Commander Sibisi commended the collaboration between police and community members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cCrime is a social ill which can be positively addressed by joining hands with the community. We really need the community to be the eyes and ears of the police,\u201d said Sibisi.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
On efforts to tackle the so-called panga boys, Sibisi added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cWe are doing whatever is in our power to address the scourge of pangas within our community. Week in and week out, we are making inroads in these arrests.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
