{"id":1985,"date":"2025-11-24T13:30:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T13:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diepslootnews.co.za\/?p=1985"},"modified":"2025-11-24T13:30:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T13:30:07","slug":"mec-ralehoko-unveils-garden-of-heroes-honouring-whistleblowers-and-fallen-healthcare-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diepslootnews.co.za\/?p=1985","title":{"rendered":"MEC Ralehoko Unveils \u2018Garden of Heroes\u2019 Honouring Whistleblowers and Fallen Healthcare Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, has officially unveiled the Garden of Heroes at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto \u2014 a symbolic space dedicated to honouring whistleblowers who stood firmly against corruption and healthcare workers who died during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unveiling follows an emotional candlelight remembrance session held earlier in the day, where families, activists and government officials gathered to pay tribute to those who lost their lives for speaking the truth or serving on the frontlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Garden pays special homage to whistleblowers who bravely exposed corruption within the public health system, some of whom were tragically killed for their courage. Their actions, MEC Ralehoko said, \u201cwill forever inspire integrity, accountability and ethical leadership within our health institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Families of the fallen heroes laid candles and flowers in memory of their loved ones, while officials acknowledged the sacrifices made by healthcare workers during the height of the pandemic.
