On Saturday, 29 November 2025, at around 09:00, members of SAPS Atteridgeville were conducting routine crime-prevention patrols along the R511 when a suspicious Mercedes-Benz Sprinter travelling towards Hartbeespoortdam caught their attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vehicle was stopped for inspection, and officers approached tactically, requesting the occupants to step out with their luggage. During a thorough search, officers discovered several explosives and explosive components inside the bag of a female passenger. She could not provide a valid explanation for being in possession of the items and was immediately arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The South African Police Service Bomb Disposal Unit was called to the scene. The explosives were secured and safely removed to prevent any threat to public safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A case docket has been opened, and investigations are underway to determine the origin and intended destination of the explosives. The suspect has been formally charged with illegal possession of explosives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
