A 50-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly posing as a registered medical practitioner at a clinic in Midrand.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit acted on information received on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, about a suspected bogus doctor operating at a medical clinic on South Road. Upon arrival, officers found the woman, a Pakistani national, consulting with two patients.
She failed to produce documents authorizing her to practice medicine and allegedly admitted that she had not completed medical studies or obtained the required qualifications. The suspect further claimed she had been practicing illegally for more than ten years.
Police seized six patient files, including sick notes, prescriptions, eye-screening certificates and documents bearing different doctors\u2019 names. The woman was arrested for fraud and contravention of the Health Professions Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
