A dedicated SAPS team raided a home in Diepsloot Extension 8 on Friday, where a suspected illegal electricity operation was allegedly uncovered.

According to information received by Diepsloot News, police confiscated a transformer and other electrical equipment during the raid.

The person linked to the property is reportedly known in the community as an alleged Izinyoka operator. However, the allegations have not yet been independently confirmed by SAPS.

It is also not yet clear when the suspect is expected to appear in court or what specific charges will be brought against them. Possible charges could include tampering with essential infrastructure, theft and possession of suspected stolen property, but these would need to be confirmed by police or the National Prosecuting Authority.

Diepsloot News is seeking confirmation from SAPS regarding the raid, the items recovered, the identity and status of the suspect, and any charges that may have been opened.
