BEAUTIFUL AND POWERFUL

As we commemorating 64 years since 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956 in protest. Olievenhout women celebrated women’s day discussing the issue of Gender Based Violence in the community and in the country at 3C church. where they invited the victims and the survivors to come share their story with those who haven’t experienced it.

Lorraine Seshoka who grew up under the watch of women who lend a helping hand to the community from her grandmother to her mother and the kindness was passed on to her as she is now a community activist. Seshoka is the director of Indflirt the Foundation they mentor and supply young girls from impoverished backgrounds starting from primary school to High school.

The foundation focuses on both girls and boys it offers mentorship programs, sanitary towels and toiletry , educational and active excursions and they assist matric pupils with tertiary applications. Seshoka is willing to help they community with what she can.

Ntombenhle Princess Molefe 36 years old mother of 3 children who is still in and abusive relationship withe father of her 3 children. Molefe started experiencing the abuse in 2007 till to date beside the physical abuse now she is only experiencing the emotionally abuse from her husband who use to physically abuse her. Molefe tried getting a protection order for her husband after endless physical abuse and rape, but that didnt help in any way instead the situation continued and the husband was out in a medical parole.

Molefe said ” I dont want to be a failure maybe is that the reason am still in the relationship but i will show him that am capable to do things on my own, now I sell chicken feet for living and also I do aerobics.”

Olievenhout plaza and Mahlasedi Foundation donated 20 food parcels to the GBV victims. Kenneth Masha Olievenhout plaza manager said that they will continue doing events that inspire women and makes them to grow.
