Second Suspect Apprehended After Community Intervention
RIVERSIDE- Community leader Jacob Phaswane Shika successfully handed over the second suspect to police on Friday, completing his intervention in a rape case that had initially threatened to turn into mob justice.
The breakthrough came several days after Shika facilitated the arrest of the first perpetrator while protecting him from angry community members seeking immediate retribution.
According to police sources, Shika worked persistently to track down the remaining suspect using his community networks and coordination with local authorities.
He safely delivered the second alleged perpetrator to police custody on Friday.Both suspects are now in custody and the case is expected before the magistrate’s court within days.
The victim’s identity remains protected as per standard procedure.This case has become an example of how communities can support law enforcement while avoiding vigilante justice.
