UPDATE: Around 30 Teenagers Treated After Diepsloot ViolenceThe

Diepsloot Clinic has confirmed that approximately 30 teenagers were treated for stab wounds and other injuries following violent clashes during community events early Sunday morning.

Most of the teenagers were treated and discharged, while a few were referred to tertiary hospitals for X-rays and further medical care.

The violent incidents, which occurred between 1:00 am and 3:00 am, have raised renewed concerns about alcohol-related violence among young people.

Clinic head Mr. Sicelo Shezi told Diepsloot News that the situation overwhelmed the facility, which struggles with limited space and staff shortages.

He also noted the aggressive behavior of intoxicated teens, which put health workers and security at risk during treatment.

As previously reported, SAPS responded to both incidents and is working closely with the clinic to ensure safety.

Community leaders, including the Riverside chairperson Mr. Shika, are expected to share their input in an upcoming follow-up story.

Residents are now calling on hardware stores to stop selling pangas to minors, as these weapons were used in the attacks.
