Gauteng Leaders Intensify HIV/AIDS Awareness in Olivenhoutbosch Ahead of World AIDS Day

Gauteng MECs Kedibone Diale-Tlabela and Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, together with Tshwane Executive Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya, MMCs and civil society representatives, engaged the community of Olivenhoutbosch, Centurion today as part of a renewed provincial push to intensify HIV/AIDS awareness.

The outreach forms part of Gauteng’s build-up activities towards the provincial commemoration of World AIDS Day, set to take place next week. The programme focused on strengthening community education, encouraging HIV testing, promoting treatment adherence, and addressing stigma associated with the virus.

Officials highlighted the importance of early detection and consistent access to healthcare services, urging residents to utilise local clinics and wellness programmes. Community members also received information on prevention methods, including the use of PrEP, condoms, and youth-friendly sexual health services.

Gauteng’s leadership reaffirmed government’s commitment to reducing new infections, expanding treatment access and empowering communities with accurate health information.
