DIEPSLOOT – Ward 95 councillor Wa Strata has confirmed that water tanker deliveries are continuing across parts of Diepsloot as the community enters another day without consistent water supply.
According to the councillor, each ward was allocated three water tankers on Wednesday as part of efforts to provide temporary relief while restoration work continues.
In Ward 95, water tankers were dispatched to several areas, including Extension 1, where deliveries were made along JB Marks Road between Extensions 1 and 6 near Sizas, Ndimasheroni Street next to Diparaffin, Tinhall near the voting station, and the SANCO offices. In Extension 2, tanker points included the Youth Centre, an area next to the local butcher, and Muzumuhle. Deliveries in Extension 4 covered Dr Alfred Xuma Street near Maake Fast Food, Sizanani Street and Inyoni Street, while Extension 8 was served at Dons and the Molubedzi site.
The councillor appealed to community leaders to assist in maintaining order when water tankers arrive, noting that tensions often rise during distribution. Residents were also reminded that individuals assisting with tanker operations are volunteers, responding to misinformation suggesting that they are on a municipal payroll.
The community was further advised that it is not possible to service every street each day, with priority given to areas that were not covered during previous deliveries.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continue rotating water tanker services until normal supply is restored.
