Lawrence Ramalwa, who is accused of hijacking a property in Bryanston, has been granted R1,000 bail by the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
Ramalwa is facing charges related to the illegal occupation and alleged takeover of a property, a crime that has become increasingly prevalent in parts of Johannesburg. The court heard that the case forms part of a broader investigation into property hijacking syndicates operating in the area.
The state did not oppose bail, but Ramalwa is expected to adhere to strict bail conditions, including attending all court appearances and refraining from interfering with witnesses or the investigation.
The matter has been postponed to 27 February 2026 for further hearing, as investigations continue and the prosecution finalises its case.
