The City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed that MMC for Roads and Transport, Andile Mngwevu, has gone missing in Mozambique after the vehicle he was travelling in was swept away by floodwaters.
The incident comes amid devastating floods affecting parts of Mozambique, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Zimbabwe, where persistent heavy rains have caused widespread damage, displaced communities, and claimed lives.
Search and rescue teams continue efforts under challenging conditions as authorities warn that severe weather may persist across the region.
