“Prioritise South Africans” Zone 14 residents to stage CV submission march

Residents from Zone 14 are expected to gather on Friday, 26 June 2026, for a peaceful CV submission march calling for employers to prioritise South African job seekers in hiring opportunities.

The march will begin at 08:00 on Malibongwe Drive, opposite McDonald’s, with organisers expecting more than 300 participants from various wards within Zone 14, including Cosmo City and Kya Sands.

According to organiser Kgalane Sekgobela, the purpose of the march is to highlight unemployment challenges and to urge businesses to comply with South African labour and immigration laws while giving more opportunities to local job seekers.

“We want to be part of the solution in preventing violence against any individual person,” said Sekgobela.

He added that the initiative is not against any individuals, but is aimed at encouraging lawful employment practices and fair access to job opportunities.

Sekgobela said organisers are also calling on companies operating in Kya Sands and surrounding areas, including security companies, to review their recruitment processes and prioritise South African citizens where possible.

The event will also function as a CV submission drive, giving unemployed residents an opportunity to present their CVs directly to potential employers.

Organisers described the march as a peaceful community initiative aimed at addressing unemployment, promoting lawful hiring practices, and raising awareness about the economic challenges facing many residents.

More than 300 people are expected to take part in the march.
