A pastor from Diepsloot is being sought by police following the alleged kidnapping of a four-month-old baby in Atteridgeville.
The pastor’s 24-year-old wife has been arrested and is being questioned by detectives as police work to establish the whereabouts of her husband and the missing infant.
Police allege that the baby’s mother was lured to a nearby river by the pastor and his wife under the pretext of taking part in a spiritual ritual. She was allegedly raped before her baby was taken.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said detectives have expanded their search to areas where the suspects are believed to be staying.
The pastor remains at large and is considered a main suspect. Police are investigating allegations of kidnapping and rape.
All four people linked to the incident are confirmed to be from Diepsloot.
