Residents of Olievenhoutbosch can breathe a sigh of relief following the arrest of a suspect linked to a string of violent crimes in the area.
The suspect, who had been on the run since December 2024, was apprehended after a crucial tip-off from a vigilant community member on Friday. He is believed to be part of a group of approximately seven individuals responsible for a wave of house robberies and rapes in Extensions 24 and 25.
According to authorities, the breakthrough came when one of the suspects was seen at a school in Extension 26. Police acted swiftly and managed to apprehend the individual for questioning.
Victims were later brought in to identify the suspect, leading to his formal arrest. Investigations are ongoing, and police have not ruled out further arrests.
Community leaders have praised both the police and residents for their cooperation, highlighting the importance of community involvement in fighting crime.
