Police have launched a manhunt for a driver involved in a fatal incident in the Rivonia area of Sandton, Johannesburg, where a man was killed after being struck by a vehicle.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred following an altercation between the victim and the motorist.
Authorities have confirmed that the victim was run over during the confrontation and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.Police have not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
They are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and appealing for witnesses to assist with the investigation.
Residents in the upscale Sandton suburb expressed shock at the violent incident in what is generally considered a safe area.
