Diepsloot Honors Its Healthcare Heroes on International Nurses Day

As the world marks International Nurses Day today, the Region A Health Forum in Diepsloot has paid heartfelt tribute to the tireless and compassionate work of nurses across local health facilities.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum, Mr. Sicelo Shezi — Chairperson of Region A Health Forum, Zone 14 — extended warm gratitude to all nursing professionals serving communities in clinics such as O.R. Tambo Health Facility, Diepsloot South Clinic, Eyethu Health Facility, Cosmo City Clinic, as well as the Mobile Clinics and Witkoppen Clinic.

“As nurses, you are the heart of our healthcare system,” said Mr. Shezi.”You provide care, comfort, and support to those in need. Your tireless efforts often go unrecognized — but not today.”

Mr. Shezi emphasized the vital role nurses play in ensuring access to healthcare, especially in under-resourced communities. He acknowledged the challenges health workers face daily — including long hours, emotional toll, and limited resources — yet praised their continued professionalism and resilience.

“We are grateful for your commitment to delivering exceptional patient care,” he added.”Let us continue striving for excellence, empathy, and kindness in all we do. You truly are the backbone of our healthcare system.”

The Health Forum also extended appreciation to all healthcare professionals, reinforcing their collective impact on community wellbeing.

Nurses were encouraged to continue upholding the values of their profession and to carry the nursing pledge with pride.

As Diepsloot celebrates its dedicated nurses, today’s message is clear: You are seen, you are valued, and your work makes a difference.
