Unidentified Woman Found Dead on Diepsloot Road After Alleged Night Out

DIEPSLOOT – The body of an unidentified woman was discovered on a road in Diepsloot after she reportedly left a local tavern in the early hours of the morning. Paramedics later declared her dead on the scene.

According to community leader Jacob Phaswane Shika, concerned residents called him to the scene after spotting the woman lying unresponsive.

Shika immediately alerted emergency services, who confirmed that the woman had passed away upon arrival.

“We still don’t know who she is. She had no form of identification on her,” Shika told Diepsloot News.

Her body was taken to Fire Mortuary, where it remains as efforts continue to identify her.It is suspected that the woman had been drinking at a tavern shortly before her death.

Community members have raised concerns about the widespread consumption of a homemade alcoholic brew known locally as ‘Thothotho’, a mixture reportedly made with rotten bread, rotten pap, yeast, water, and other unknown ingredients.

In response, Shika said he is working with local stakeholders to shut down informal outlets and shops allegedly selling Thothotho.

“This drink is dangerous. We don’t even know what people are mixing in it anymore. It’s poisoning our people,” he said.

Police are expected to investigate the exact cause of death.

Community members with information about the deceased or suspicious alcohol sales are urged to come forward.
