Lion Park Child Assault Suspect Arrested After Community and Security Collaboration

A Zimbabwean national accused of brutally assaulting a three-year-old girl in Lion Park has been apprehended following a multi-stakeholder manhunt involving Guard Max Security, Shika, Willy Matsi, Eddy, Thabo Mbeki patrollers, Eskom patrols, SAPS and local residents.

According to Guard Max, the suspect was tracked down in Zandspruit around 21:30 on Monday night. “Our dedicated team worked around the clock in search for the suspect… information came forward about his whereabouts and our Tactical Hi-Risk Team responded, leading to the successful arrest. The suspect was handed over to SAPS for further investigation,” the company said.

The child’s grandmother confirmed the family had been informed of the arrest but said the little girl remains in ICU. “She is still fighting for her life,” she said.

On the arrest, the grandmother expressed mixed emotions: “I’m not satisfied. I want to see him imprisoned for life — no bail, and no missing docket.”

Guard Max thanked the community for distributing flyers and assisting with leads. “The awareness created played a huge role in helping us bring him to justice,” the company added.

The case is now in the hands of Diepsloot SAPS for further investigation.
