Police have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with the brutal murders of two young women and the attempted murder of a third victim in Mamelodi East Extension 17, Pretoria.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 26 October 2025, when the bodies of two women, aged 21 and 22, were discovered on the side of the road with gunshot wounds. A third victim, who was also shot during the attack, is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital.
Following intensive investigations, a multidisciplinary team comprising detectives from the Gauteng Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit, Provincial Crime Intelligence, and Mamelodi East Detectives arrested the suspect on Monday, 27 October 2025, at a filling station in Pretoria.
Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the arrest and said the suspect is expected to appear before the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, facing two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
Police have urged the public to continue cooperating with authorities and to report any additional information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
