A major greening initiative is taking place in Diepsloot and surrounding areas as Joburg City Parks and Zoo teams up with the Fourways Improvement District to plant 3,000 indigenous Celtis Africana trees between Fourways and Diepsloot.
The planting, forms part of the Presidential One Million Trees Programme, a national effort aimed at promoting urban greening, improving air quality, and restoring biodiversity.
City officials say the project will not only beautify the area but also help combat climate change and create a healthier environment for Diepsloot residents.
