Residents of Diepsloot can expect a gradual return of normal water supply after Johannesburg Water completed emergency maintenance on a burst 400mm AC pipe in the area.
The unplanned maintenance, which affected all streets in Diepsloot, began on 28 January 2026 and was completed the same day at approximately 23:30. During the disruption, residents experienced low pressure to no water.
To ensure continuity of water supply during the repairs, Johannesburg Water deployed stationary tankers at schools and clinics and roaming trucks throughout the community. These measures helped mitigate the impact on residents while the pipe was being replaced.
The completion of the repairs is expected to result in improved service delivery, reduced water losses, and more reliable water supply for Diepsloot residents. Water will be gradually restored to prevent further bursts while the system stabilizes.
Johannesburg Water thanked the community for their patience and cooperation during the emergency maintenance.
