The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has unveiled its newly-appointed Johannesburg mayoral candidate, Mlungisi Mabaso, who has promised to restore the City of Johannesburg to its former glory should the party take over government.
Mabaso introduced a 10-point rescue plan aimed at addressing some of the city’s biggest challenges, including housing, unemployment, service delivery, clean governance, and building a community-centred government.
Currently serving as one of Johannesburg’s youngest Members of the Mayoral Committee, Mabaso heads the Human Settlements portfolio.
Speaking during the announcement, Mabaso said the IFP is committed to rebuilding the city and restoring pride among residents.
“Johannesburg must once again become a city where people are proud to live in. The IFP will restore the culture of safety, discipline and excellence in local government. The IFP believes that clean streets matter, safe neighbourhoods matter,” he said.
The IFP says its plan focuses on improving service delivery, creating safer communities, and ensuring accountable leadership for residents across Johannesburg.
