Police have arrested 762 wanted suspects during the first phase of Operation Shanela II, which took place overnight across Gauteng.
The operation moved into its second phase on Thursday in Olievenhoutbosch, Tshwane, where Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Tommy Mthombeni, together with senior police leadership, led a major roadblock on the R55.
So far, police have arrested 87 suspects for various offences, including 80 undocumented persons, six suspects for possession of drugs, and one person for operating an unlicensed liquor outlet.
An NP200 bakkie with a tampered engine number was also seized for further investigation.
Operation Shanela II includes roadblocks, vehicle checkpoints, patrols, and community engagement activities aimed at improving police visibility and fighting crime across Gauteng.
Police say the operation will continue as part of ongoing efforts to create safer communities.
