DIEPSLOOT PASTOR ACCUSED OF RAPE AND MURDER ABANDONS BAIL BID

JOHANNESBURG – Self-proclaimed pastor Caiphus Mkhawane and one of his wives have abandoned their bail applications in the case involving the death of four-month-old Promise Rabela and the alleged rape of her mother.

Mkhawane and his two wives are facing multiple charges, including murder, rape, kidnapping, human trafficking, fraud and conspiracy to commit murder.

The case is linked to allegations that the attack was carried out in an attempt to secure a funeral insurance payout.

The third accused is still pursuing bail, while Mkhawane and one of his wives will remain in custody following the abandonment of their bail bids.

The matter is expected back in court on 23 October.
