Eskom Installs New Transformer as Diepsloot Residents Await Power Restoration

Residents of parts of Diepsloot could soon see an end to months of electricity disruptions following the installation of a new Eskom transformer.

According to local ward councillor Julius Maake, Eskom has begun installing Transformer LCD 55/53, a development expected to improve electricity supply in the affected areas.

The community has endured prolonged power outages for several months, leading to frustration among residents and concerns about the impact on households and local businesses.

Maake thanked residents for their patience during the lengthy process and acknowledged the cooperation between the community and local leadership in working towards a solution.

“We appreciate the patience shown by community members and their willingness to work together with us while Eskom addressed the matter,” he said.

The councillor also urged residents with outstanding electricity-related debts and fines to make arrangements to settle their accounts, saying this would assist Eskom in maintaining and improving services.

The installation of the transformer is expected to bring relief to affected residents, although Eskom has not yet indicated when electricity supply will be fully restored to all households.

Community members have welcomed the development and expressed hope that normal electricity services will resume as soon as possible.
