Fifteen Wastepreneurs Graduate from WasteAid’s e-Waste Repair Program

Fifteen participants have successfully completed WasteAid’s e-waste repair and business development training program, marking an important step toward cleaner, more sustainable communities in South Africa.

Through the program, participants learned practical skills in waste management, repair and dismantling of household electronic appliances, and business development. Each graduate received a certificate and resources to help them start or grow their own waste-focused enterprises.

As part of their training, newly formed cooperatives also led clean-up and awareness campaigns in several communities, including:

Voorkrand Primary School in Haddon – Green Tech Solutions

Freedom Park – Umsebenziwethu

Dube, Soweto – Yandisa Technologies

These initiatives show how skills development and community action can go hand in hand — creating income opportunities while protecting the environment.

WasteAid continues to empower South African Wastepreneurs to turn waste into opportunity and make waste work for good.

“This program is about more than training — it’s about building sustainable futures,” said one of the coordinators. “We’re proud of every participant who’s taking these skills back into their communities.”
