Crumbling, congested roads may soon be a thing of the past in Diepsloot as the City of Johannesburg launches a pothole repair initiative under Operation Restore.
The operation kicked off on Ubuntu Street in Wards 95 and 113, following calls from local councillors for urgent road repairs.
Johannesburg MMC for Transport, Kenny Kunene, was among the officials on-site to oversee the launch.
He acknowledged the numerous challenges facing the city’s road infrastructure.Kunene was joined by Acting CEO of the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), Lufuno Mashau, and the JRA executive team — highlighting the City’s commitment to improving service delivery.
Many roads in Diepsloot have exceeded their intended lifespan, with some in use for years. Seasonal rains have also hampered maintenance efforts, worsening the pothole crisis.
