The Jozi Kota Festival is making its return to The Station in Newtown on 25 April 2026, promising not just great food and entertainment, but real opportunities for local businesses and job seekers.
What started in Newtown has grown into a national movement, and organisers say this year’s event will boost the local economy by creating jobs for event staff, security and hospitality workers, while opening doors for kota vendors and informal traders.
The festival continues its partnership with Albany to support township food entrepreneurs, with vendors standing a chance to win a share of R110,000 to help grow their businesses. New partner Nyama Choma is also expected to bring more flavour and variety to the event.
With high unemployment affecting many communities, especially young people, the festival aims to provide income opportunities and valuable skills exposure in areas like event management and hospitality.
Residents can expect a family-friendly experience with top kota vendors, live music and a vibrant atmosphere. Large crowds are expected, bringing more business to surrounding areas.
Tickets are available at Computicket, and early booking is advised.
